Description: Intern: Social Media Marketing


Goals/ Objectives of Internship:

1. To maintain a consistent Social Media Presence on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn and to boost our presence on those platforms by increasing followers.
2. Ability to increase brand awareness and sales via Social Media.
3. To boost our individual sales via social media platforms.
4. To boost our bulk sales via social media platforms.
5. Interns will be expected to draw up and track social media campaigns optimized for multiple platforms; track media hits; generate marketing materials (social posts, blog posts, flyers).
6. Ideal candidates should be familiar with various social media platforms (including, but not limited to, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, Youtube, Pinterest, Hootsuite, Linktree, and Shopify). Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Google Suite and a basic understanding of Adobe Photoshop/InDesign or Canva preferred.

1. Interns will have the unique opportunity to hone their social media marketing skills relevant to the Trade publishing industry.
2. Interns will have the opportunity to contribute in meaningful ways to the brand marketing of a small, mission-driven picture book press with more tailored opportunities than what is usually available at a larger publisher’s internship program.
3. To gain knowledge about the trade publishing industry, specifically the picture book marketplace and how to drive brand marketing of a small professional press.
4. To gain knowledge about animal welfare/rights and their relationship to mitigating climate change efforts and pro-environmental movements as well as with SEL and character education.
5. The opportunity to build a portfolio for future employers.
6. We are happy to work with student’s academic institution to meet the requirements for fulfillment of academic credit.

Location: Remote; communication via zoom, phone, and email

Duration: January – May 2025. Start date dependent on student and date of hire.

Time Commitment per Week: Approximately 15 hours

Length of Internship: January- May 2025
Requirements: Qualifications:

1. We are looking for a social media whiz who can help Gryphon break through on all Social Media Platforms. Applicants should have at least 6 months of experience creating and posting on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram on behalf of an organization or business.

2. Applicants should have experience and expertise in using Canva or other similar platforms with an eye for visual marketing, attention to detail, and creating videos and posts that have impact.
3. Ability to get up-to-speed quickly on Gryphon’s mission, its titles, brand, and perspective.
4. Knowledge of and passion for children’s literature, Trade publishing, animal welfare, animal rights, humane education, environmental issues specific to animals, and education—specifically social emotional learning.
5. Knowledge of or ability to get up-to-speed quickly about the Trade publishing industry, specifically children’s picture books.
6. Strong writing skills that are tailored to Gryphon’s aesthetic/attitude and social media marketplace.
7. Ability to work remotely and independently and meet deadlines.
8. Creative and strategic thinking.
9. Responsible individual who can be trusted with access to social media accounts.
