| Description: | Soho Press offers an internship program on a seasonal basis, and we accept applications from students and adults at any stage in their career on a rolling basis. Our interns commit to 16 hours per week either in our NYC office or virtually. The internship is divided into two halves, one half led by our editorial department and the other led by our marketing/publicity department. Interns will have the opportunity to sit in on company meetings and participate in staff-led learning units that cover multiple aspects of the book publishing industry throughout each season.
General responsibilities will include: evaluating select submissions, providing additional proofreads on finished manuscripts, assisting in the development of publicity and marketing lists, fulfilling promotional mailings, and other projects. Soho is a high-volume, independent press with multiple imprints, and this internship offers the valuable opportunity to work closely with a passionate staff across the spectrum of the publishing process. We’re looking for careful readers with basic office skills who are interested in gaining a broad perspective of independent book publishing. | Length of Internship: | 3-4 months, depending on season. |
| Requirements: | Familiarity with basic office tasks, critical and confident reader with a strong understanding of grammar, ability to multitask, and familiarity with Soho Press and our imprints. |
